Hi and welcome to my profile!
Many years ago, when I had hair, I was into cars and driving. I took my driving test as soon as I was old enough to drive and worked hard to buy my self a car!
I eventually joined the police and found that many of the team were bikers and went out on regular rides and meetups. After being told "If you like driving you'll love riding a bike!" I decided to take the plunge and do my direct access with a colleage of mine. We both passed and I had my first bike, a Yamaha Fazer 600. I felt like Rossi tearing around, but when I looked at the others they made it look effortless and easy whilst they left me for dust! I then realised that to ride to the standard of the group I needed some training!
I was lucky enough to be given my response driving course which helped my riding alot. My instructor was also an avid biker and gave me a copy of roadcraft. I decided to read it and try and put it into practice.
I then started to improve and bought my second bike. A Yamaha FZ1 Fazer. The extra power put a smile on my face every time I rode it! I started to orgainse trips away and tours around the UK and into France which beame more and more popular as I got better at it!
I then moved to the Diplomatic Protection Group where I was given a Motorcycle response course amongst other courses. I loved every minute of it!
Menwhile I had upgraded my bike to a BMW K1300S. I started to get extra help with my riding to ensure I would pass a Police Advanced course and quicly got up to standard with help from advanced riders and trainers both in and outside the police. I then upgred my bike again to a BMW S1000RR. Also adding a Suzuki 1250 Bandit GT to the garage for commuting.
Still planning trips and tours I started to ride on track more and more. I also ran the DPG bike club organising events, tours, social rides, and track days. From this my rideouts whatsapp group grew daily to over 100 people.
After attending the Ron Haslam School and other track training I was pointed towards the IAM Skills Days. I started to attend regularly, meeting some amazing riders who were only too happy to help me improve. I then joined the IAM as I wanted to give something back. It was my turn to help others. Over time, I obtained a National Observer and Masters (distinction) qualification. I was then asked to take over as Chief Observer at WVAM starting this year which I accepted. Also on the cards is doing my ACU licence. I've always wanted to race!
After a line of S1000RR's I added a BMW R1200GS and recently a Suzuki GSXR 750 K5 to the garage. I am also just about to take ownership of a new S1000RR M Sport which I'm very excited about! Check out my youtube videos!
Well I hope you get in contact and we can go for a ride!
Thanks,
Peter
