Advanced Riding

Become an Advanced  Rider

If you want to enhance your skills on the road or the track check out the IAM courses and Skills days and also the WVAM sites. Alternatively contact me for 1 to 1 training.

Get Started

You never stop learning! The IAM offer advanced courses based on Roadcraft the Police Rider Handbook. The Advanced Rider Course gives you the basics of advanced riding and will get you to police response solo level. Once you have passes the IAM advanced course you can then try your hand at completing the Masters qualification. This will test your skills and push you to become the equivalent of a Police Advanced Rider.

Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists is affiliated to the IAM and provide you with highly trained observers to help you through your courses.

IAM Skills Days

Run at Thruxton, Mallory or Croft circuits throught the year they offer a safe environmen to practice road (and most track) skills. Braking down the day into 6 sessions you will get 1 instructor between 4 and they will help you, give you constructive feed back and answer any quetions you might have. You will get a short classroom input on an area of skill eg. throttle control, braking, vision ..etc then get time to discuss it with your instructor before trying it on track.

As the day progresses and speeds rise all of your new skills will make you more systematic, more accurate, smoother and as a result faster.
